How does CrosswordAlly work?
Choose the publication date of the crossword you played, then upload a screenshot of your grid. CrosswordAlly reads the letters you entered, compares them against the published solution, and highlights the squares that don't match. You can then fix squares yourself or reveal a letter or answer — only when you choose.
Which crosswords are supported?
The screenshot checker currently works with the New York Times daily crossword. You pick the puzzle's publication date before uploading so your grid is compared against the right solution.
Will it spoil the answers?
No. A check only shows which squares don't match — never the correct letters. Revealing a single letter or a full answer is a separate action that only happens when you explicitly ask for it.
Do you keep my screenshot?
No. Your screenshot is used to check your puzzle and is not kept longer than necessary.
Is CrosswordAlly free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it's free, and there's no account or sign-up. You upload a screenshot, get your check, and you're done.
What makes a good screenshot?
Make sure the whole grid is visible edge to edge, keep your entered letters on screen, and avoid glare or heavy shadows. Cropping out notifications and other apps helps too.
Can I correct mistakes without revealing anything?
Yes. After a check, tap any square on the board and type over it. The board re-checks your edits as you type, so you can fix every mismatch yourself without ever seeing the solution.
